OMRON TAIYO Co., Ltd. UNLOCK the FUTURE project

Editing and writing the copy text, the handout on the day of the event  and special website for OMRON TAIYO Co., Ltd.’s 50th anniversary project. I was also in charge of project facilitation and editorial advice on the commemorative booklet produced by employees.

Omron Taiyo is a company that manufactures electrical machinery and fixtures, located in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, Japan. It was founded in 1972 by Dr. Yutaka Nakamura, who founded Taiyo no Ie(Social Welfare Organization Japan Suns Industries),  and Kazuma Tateishi, founder of Omron.

For 50 years, the company has been creating an environment where people with and without disabilities can work together. The ratio is 50:50. The 50th anniversary project was based on the concept of ‘UNLOCK the FUTURE’, and the employees planned a variety of projects, including a commemorative ceremony and a factory tour program, together with members of the external creative team.

In line with the concept, I  shed light on the history of OMRON TAIYO. This is a history of appealing to the importance of employing people with disabilities and the need to improve the environment, practicing it, and proving it to society through their attitude. The company just did it even if they had not been given the concepts of inclusiveness or diversity that  are more commonplace today, or numerical targets for the employment of people with disabilities.

Therefore, in the copy and text, I tried to tell their history and also to verbalize that I want them to continue to create value that do not yet exist in our society and to continue to lead us.

50周年記念誌

In the creation of the commemorative magazine, I also held regular meetings with members of the in-house project team. I gave advice on gathering opinions on what we wanted to include in the booklet, composing the pages, and managing the articles and photography. I worked on this project with the hope that the process itself would become a good memory, that the know-how of booklet production would remain within the company, and that the booklet would be loved for a long time.
