A report booklet of study sessions held by the funeral home

This is a report booklet of study sessions held by a funeral home to contribute to the community. A theme of the workshop was the adult guardianship system in Japan. It is a system in which a third party assists a person with dementia or difficulty making decisions on his/her behalf. The client runs a funeral home and has many opportunities to come into contact with problems that arise before death. Among them, there are many people who are unable to reflect their wishes as they would like when they are affected by dementia, or many who have given up the will to live. Believing that the adult guardianship system has potential to be an effective means of living with dignity, even after cognitive and physical functions have deteriorated, the client held study sessions, to learn about the adult guardianship system, with local welfare professionals. It was more like a community service activity than for the benefit of the company. The booklet is an archive of the content of the study session. I have compiled the purpose of the study group and the content of the lecturers’ talks at the three study sessions into the text.
